CITRONNE Gallery presents the solo exhibition of George Lappas, Eeerie Walk. This fourth solo exhibition of the artist at CITRONNE Gallery, aims at shedding light on George Lappas’s distinct thought and working process. The selected works share in common the human figure as well as the qualities of balance and movement, static or not and encapsulate a contemporary perception of sculpture as a materialization of the immaterial and the intangible.
Intertextual and with references to art history, memory and history, the artist’s work is captivating, mysterious, immediate and profound. George Lappas (1950-2016) represented Greece at the Venice Biennale in 1990 and received the first prize at the Alexandria Biennale in 1984. His work was presented internationally including the exhibition Metropolis at the Martin Gropius Bau in 1991 and the Sao Paolo Biennial in 1987. That same year the artist created Mappemonde, an installation, the Map of the World, a memory field reconstituted by CITRONNE Gallery in the artist’s exhibition in 2018.
